SING A SONG OF SILENCE

“I am not a charity. Oxfam went bust a year ago today. I remember it quite clearly because it was the same day that the Trump/Tory coalition deleted Africa. So, how do we complete this transaction?’

Linda’s lied. She’s told all the smug parents at school that her twins, Claire and Carl, have each got an eight octave range (bigger and better than Whitney!!) and she’s in trouble until a-man-who-is-not-quite-a-man appears, as if from nowhere, and solves her problem. Fast forward five years and Claire and Carl are headlining the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, the world is expecting them to perform their hit but they’ve got other, gorier ideas.

In a world that eschews morals in favour of the privatisation of everything, this reimagining of Rumpelstilskin demonstrates that even family comes at a price. Are children really our future when money is the greatest love of all?
